Contemporary Health Care Centre

This Chiropractic and Wellness Centre is located on the ground floor of a mid-rise condominium development serving a family oriented community.  To serve both adults and children, the space is made inviting and vibrant using colour, form and light to highlight unexpected sculptural elements.

Playfully arranged orange and white rectangles like a giant 3D modern painting are located above a space especially for children, to discover while they wait—rectangles that visually relate to the similar de stijl-like painted forms of the entire clinic.

The curve of the lowered, upper-lit light valence locates the information desk, itself a bentwood creation that supports a seating area.

The graphic art is not only on the wall, it defines the wall, wrapping the design around the entire panel.

These individual elements are picked up throughout the examination rooms and the halls of the space and are further accented by the concrete-look carpet tiles laid throughout the  Centre.

Our clients are exceedingly happy with their clinic and recieve compliments on the space and new clients every day.

Onex Executive Office Kitchen

Designing kitchens is something we do every day here at YDC, but when we received the call from Onex Corporation to design their executive office floor kitchen on Bay Street, we were thrilled. It was such a great project, and we worked together with their Project Management and Corporate Interior Design Company Raymond Chiappetta Associates to complete this job.

Although the corporate office of Onex is quite traditional, the client decided to go very contemporary with the new kitchenwhich was a lot of fun. Designing a corporate kitchen is much different from designing for private clients. We had to take into consideration staff constantly walking through the kitchen, the personal chef requiring a serving area for setting up a lunch buffet, and needing professional ventilation to eliminate food smell in the offices. The solution to these considerations included two entries to the kitchen (which really helped with the flow), lots of counter space for serving food, and getting the ventilation up to the rooftop of the office building through the elevator shaft.

For this kitchen we used glossy lacquer cabinets in combination with walnut veneer. The countertop is Caesarstone Pure White with a custom walnut L-shaped butcher-block on the island which can slide back and forth. All appliances are Miele except for the Sub-Zero fridges.
