An independent designer works for you on a fee, has no stake in whose cabinets you buy, and leaves you to hire and coordinate the trades yourself.
A cabinet showroom with in-house designers will work with you on the design, but the layout is dependent on what their one product line can build.
A design-build renovator gives you a single contract and coordinates everything, but you may lose the check and balance of a designer whose interests are separate from the builder’s margin.
At Yorkville Design Centre, we are in fact a fourth option, and it is worth saying out loud: we are a showroom with a licensed architect and interior designers on staff. This means you get the cabinetry line and the design discipline in the same contract; the drawings are done by people who can also envision the room, not only the run of cabinets!

EXPERT TORONTO KITCHEN DESIGNERS
Established in 1972, the Yorkville Design Centre team has spent over 40 years designing and creating beautiful interiors in the Annex, Toronto, along with the surrounding areas of Ontario, as well as other provinces, the USA, and the Caribbean. Yorkville Design Centre is Toronto's only Downsview Kitchen showroom and an awarded Interior Design Agency. Visit our showroom at 87 Avenue Road, meet our team, and receive a complimentary consultation about your interior design project.
As a Downsview Kitchens retailer from the beginning, throughout its 40-plus years of existence, YDC has designed hundreds of kitchens and lived through many periods of kitchen design, including the "Yellow Period" of the 1970s, the white-on-light-hardwood of the 80s, and the Bavarian castle traditional craze of the 1990s. But throughout it all, the taste of the interior designers at YDC has always skewed contemporary, so when architect Thomas Tampold bought the company in 2008, he was happy to see that the rest of the world was finally catching up to them. Whether you want to redesign your kitchen, interior, or entire house, YDC's experienced team of architects and designers will create the best solution.
At Yorkville Design Centre, we specialize in design, custom cabinetry & kitchens in The Annex, Toronto and beyond, creating spaces that expertly blend form and function to offer clients premium solutions tailored to their lifestyle. This means that whether you're searching for “kitchen manufacturer near me”, “kitchen designs near me”, or just “Toronto kitchen designers”, our team delivers impeccable craftsmanship and design. We serve clients not just in Toronto and the GTA, but across Ontario — including those searching for kitchen cabinets in Sudbury, Ontario and other Northern Ontario communities. Ultimately, you can rest assured that we work closely with homeowners and design professionals to create personalized spaces that elevate daily living.
Along with being your go-to Downsview Kitchens provider, we are also recognized among the leading interior design firms in Toronto, having grown to become a trusted name in luxury interior design and Toronto design-build services.
-
Downsview Kitchens has manufactured cabinetry in Ontario since 1967 and sits at the top of the market. Yorkville Design Centre designs your kitchen, coordinates the trades and handles your installation.
We have been a Downsview Kitchens dealer since the 1970s, and our team includes architects and interior designers, not only cabinet salespeople. One firm draws the kitchen, details the millwork, relates it to the architecture of the room and stays with the project through installation and sign-off.

Most clients come to us wanting a kitchen, closet, or living space that's both beautiful and genuinely functional.. They crave something that fits how they actually live, holds up over time, and adds lasting value to their home. With over 50 years of experience across Toronto, the GTA, Muskoka, and beyond, our team at Yorkville Design Centre creates spaces with a sculptural, architecturally driven approach that's built to stand the test of time, not just look good for a season.
-
Because YDC offers a number of services including: cabinetry, kitchen and closet design, interior design, and architectural design all under one roof, you're not coordinating between separate contractors and designers. In fact, our team manages the project from concept through installation.
Contacting us for a complimentary consultation at our Avenue Road showroom is the first step, so you can talk through your goals before committing to anything.
-
As Toronto's only Downsview Kitchens showroom, we give clients access to premium Toronto cabinetry lines that aren't widely available elsewhere paired with in-house architectural and interior design expertise. This combination lets us tailor both the look and the structure of a space, rather than just dropping in pre-made cabinets.
-
Both. While kitchens are a core part of our work, our services extend to full Toronto interior design and architectural design projects; our previous work includes condos to large residences across Toronto, the GTA, Muskoka, and across Canada.
-
Visit our showroom at 87 Avenue Road for a complimentary consultation, where our team can walk through your space, discuss your goals, and recommend the best direction; regardless if that's a kitchen refresh, a full renovation, or a new build.
-
Downsview Kitchens offers a five year limited warranty on their cabinetry and associated hardware.
